Minutes of the Regularly Scheduled Council Meeting
January 14, 2002
City Hall Annex Building, 186 Branham Way
6:30 p.m.


Mayor Ed Hilbert called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. with the following members present: Barry Armstrong, Sam Beichler, Sid Griffin, Ralph Lutes, Frank Sullivan and Brent Wheeler. Brent Wheeler had to leave due to a family emergency.

The City Attorney, City Engineer, Utility Superintendent, and City Clerk were also present.

The invocation was given by Mark Wilson of the United Methodist Church.

Barry Armstrong made a motion to accept the minutes of the December 10th meeting as read with one correction. Frank Sullivan seconded the motion. Motion passed. (Unan.)

The first reading was conducted on Ordinance 02-01 regarding zoning amendment 2001Z-67 for Dogwood Homes on 1.68 acres to be re-zoned from Agricultural to R-2.

Joe Wells asked the Council if we were any closer to getting the guard rail down on Brian Drive. Magistrate Eddie Bleemel asked to address the question and stated that the Judge has agreed to allow the City to take down the guard rail and deliver it to the County road department.

Barry Armstrong made a motion to take the guard rail down on Brian Drive. Ralph Lutes seconded the motion. Motion passed. (Unan.) There was discussion on whether the road would be ready for traffic. The Utility Superintendent, Ronnie Fick, stated he would see what needed to be done temporarily until the infrastructure is complete.

Frank Sullivan made a motion to order 12 more Christmas wreaths. Barry Armstrong seconded the motion. Motion passed. (Unan.)

Sam Beichler asked City Attorney, Joe Wantland, to prepare an ordinance to make sidewalks mandatory in new developments within the City.

Barry Armstrong made a motion to adopt the contract with First Federal Savings Bank of Elizabethtown in regard to the completion of the infrastructure in Nature Cove Subdivision. The infrastructure will be completed by the City and reimbursement for expenses to be paid to the City within 30 days of completion in Nature Cove Subdivision. Sam Beichler seconded the motion. Motion passed. (Unan.)

Sam Beichler made a motion to enter into executive session at 7:19 p.m. to discuss property acquisition. Barry Armstrong seconded the motion. Motion passed. (Unan.)

Sid Griffin made a motion to reconvene open session at 8:30 p.m. Barry Armstrong seconded the motion. Motion passed. (Unan.)

There was no action taken as a result of executive session.

There being no further business before the Council, Ralph Lutes made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Sid Griffin seconded the motion. Motion passed. (Unan.)

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
