Minutes of the Regularly Scheduled Council Meeting
November 26, 2001
City Hall Annex Building, 186 Branham Way
6:30 p.m.
Council Member Ralph Lutes called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. with the
following members present: Barry Armstrong, Sam Beichler, Sid Griffin, Frank
Sullivan and Brent Wheeler. Mayor Ed Hilbert was absent.
The City Attorney, City Engineer, Utility Superintendent, City Treasurer, and
City Clerk were also present.
The invocation was given by Ralph Lutes.
Brent Wheeler made a motion to approve the November 13, 2001 meeting minutes
with two corrections. Sam Beichler seconded the motion. Motion passed. (Unan.)
Kim Fell gave the treasurers report. Barry Armstrong made a motion to accept the
treasurers report. Sid Griffin seconded the motion. Motion passed. (Unan.)
The 2nd reading was conducted on ordinance 01-24 in regard to zoning amendment
2001Z-57 for Luai Hasouneh on .807 acres at the northwest intersection of Lloyds
Lane and Hwy 44. The current zoning is agricultural. The requested zoning is B-1
highway business. Sid Griffin made a motion to approve ordinance 01-24. Frank
Sullivan seconded the motion. Motion passed. (Unan.)
The 1st reading was conducted on Ordinance 01-25 in regard to confirming the
annexation of 7.46 acres for East Ky. Power and Salt River Electric Corp.
The 1st reading was conducted on Ordinance 01-26 confirming annexation of 1.78
acres for East Ky. Power Sub Station.
Ken Young of Scott Waste introduced himself to the Council. He is the supervisor
of the garbage routes in Mt. Washington. Scott Waste bought out Best Waste in
October of 2000. He discussed their company and services and answered questions
from the Council.
Hill Bleemel addressed the Council about hay bales left at the Mt. Washington
Business Centre that were destroyed. Mr. Bleemel was given permission to cut the
hay off the property and keep the cuttings at no cost. He thought he should have
received a phone call to remove the hay before destroying it. After some
discussion, the Council assured Mr. Bleemel that the hay was not destroyed
intentionally.
Shirley Sullivan, of 255 Beechwood Drive, addressed the Council about drainage
problems at her residence and in her neighborhood. Dave Derrick, City Engineer,
stated that this neighborhood was constructed before the City created drainage
requirements. The City will check to see if culverts need to be cleaned out that
may have obstructed the flow of water.
Jim Greer addressed the Council in regard to a path leading to a playground
between Spruce and Elm in the Northfield subdivision. Many people use this path
including handicapped persons. The path is in need of repair. Barry Armstrong
made a motion to check into the repair and authorized the Mayor to expend up to
$1,000 to repair the path. Sid Griffin seconded the motion. Motion passed. (Unan.)
Frank Sullivan made a motion to display unapproved minutes on the City web site.
Brent Wheeler seconded the motion. Motion passed. (Unan.)
Sam Beichler made a motion to enter into executive session to discuss property
at 7:50 p.m. Sid Griffin seconded the motion. Motion passed. (Unan.)
Sid Griffin made a motion to reconvene open session at 9:09 p.m. Barry Armstrong
seconded the motion. Motion passed. (Unan.)
There was no action taken as a result of executive session.
There being no further business before the Council, Brent Wheeler made a motion
to adjourn the meeting. Sid Griffin seconded the motion. Motion passed. (Unan.)
